iREST® Yoga Nidra

iRest® can help with sleep, anxiety, stress, and various pains. It has also been used successfully to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

In the practice you’ll surrender yourself to listen, notice, sense, and accept, everything that enters your consciousness. This develops accepting self-awareness and takes you towards your authentic, compassionate whole being.

iRest® is a kind of Yoga Nidra, developed in the US by Richard Miller (PhD).

iRest®, integrative restoration, is a deep-relaxing meditation that unifies the physical, mental, and spiritual. In this mediation you don’t need to try too hard, keep any specific position, or really do anything at all!

  • The iRest exercise is a verbally guided deep relaxation meditation done lying on your back or in another position as comfortable as possible, which consists of ten different steps.

At the beginning of the exercise, the body is brought into a state of deep relaxation and after that we begin to observe the sensations, feelings, thoughts, beliefs and images of the body.

We practice the ability to be present, to sense and feel the body, to experience through the body. At the same time, we learn not to identify with all the movements of the mind and everything that happens in consciousness.

In the end, through your own experience, you end up exploring the nature of consciousness and realizing what your deepest essence is. Exercise is a method of self-realization and self-examination, a state of being without effort.

You don't need experience or any special skills to practice yoga nidra. During the class, you rest on your back (or in another comfortable position) and listen to the teacher lead you into a meditative state where you are not awake, but you are not asleep either. However, your body is at rest. Put on warm clothes. Also bring out a blanket, pillows or bolster.

You can participate in a single iRest meditation or get to know the topic more deeply with an iRest course.

  • Description text The iRest Dyad one-on-one meditations are a form of iRest where we meet privately and welcome everything exactly as it is.

Our goal is not to fix or change anything, but to unreservedly welcome and mirror everything that comes up.

Through one-on-one meditation, we can increase our capacity to face life's range of emotions without being overwhelmed by them. We also gradually begin to discover a deeper, consistently peaceful side of ourselves that we may not have been aware of before.

In iRest Dyad, the instructor's role is to 'create a space for you' where you can explore and embrace your own inner truth.
